Lwanbé + Saroyé + Turbo Boom Boom

20.06.24 / 6pm

La Guinguette Électrique - Maloya

Please note that tonight's concerts will take place indoors! Turbo Boom-Boom will open the evening in the La Belle bar, while Lwanbé and Saroyé will perform in the main hall! But because we like to think big, and the rain should stop by early evening, the La Guinguette site will remain open. That means you'll be able to enjoy the outdoors (kids' area, catering...) as much as the indoors. And to top it all off, we're opening all three bars : outside, inside and in the hall!

Free outdoor • No reservation required • 18h-00h • Refreshments and food

Lwanbé

Lwanbé emerges like a magmatic force in the musical ocean: it's the hip-hop eruption of fonnkèr, "bottom of the heart": Reunionese state of mind and poetry. Sailing on ternary rhythms, deep bass and electronic arpeggios, his lyrics tell us about human erosion and the inner cyclones that drive us.

It's a gentle anger with the sounds of neo-rad kréol, anchoring its steps in the heaviness of roulèr and rising to the bounce of kayamb: the traditional instruments of maloya - the music of Réunionese slaves - meet contemporary electronic textures, 808 kicks and synthesizers, creating a bold, lively fusion. His music, as changeable as the island's climate, blends the intimate and the political, and bows to the wind of its rawest emotions.

Lwanbé embodies a committed voice, defying convention with sincerity and boundless creativity, and stands out as a force for change, ready to shape the musical landscape with vulnerability and conviction.

Accompanied by her kayamb, LWANBÉ, an insular and insubordinate artist, sculpts new music from the power of maloya, wrapping it sometimes in immersive polyphonic waves, sometimes in an incisive rap flow in kréol.

Saroyé

A new sweet for the soul, spicy enough to set the dancefloors on fire! The septet Saroyé unveils its first album « Baba Moin »: the fusional encounter of Reunion Island’s maloya and Cuban rumba, enhanced by many contributions from Africa or South America… A new block for the endless edifice of afro-atlantic music! Under the impulse of Luc Moindranzé Karioudja (Ti’Kaniki, An’Pagay, Parranda La Cruz…), the band pushes further the musical potentialities of this ever-changing cultural space.

Never mind geographical immensities and the boundaries that lacerate them. These musicians with big heart ask questions in Creole and answer them in Spanish, they mix percussions and tones together, they multiply round trips between continents and oceans… And their carbon footprint is very much alike this outstanding project: splendid! In their universe, globalization is galloping but letting no one by the side of the road. They create a festive, cathartic and popular hurricane.

With Luc Moindranzé Karioudja, there is a team of strong-headed musicians who come from a variety of backgrounds. Four percussionists who donate their choir to his science surround their charismatic leader. By their sides, two colourists fuss over different kinds of sensitive strings to whip up this spicy sauce. Come and get caught by Saroyé hurricane!
