It's hard to stay in the shadows, escape comparison and make a name for yourself when you're the son of... Yet Kirá has succeeded brilliantly, musically emancipating himself from the tutelary figure of his father by drawing inspiration from the popular culture of his native Brazil, bringing a breath of fresh air and poetry to a revisited folklore. Between Nordeste rhythms and other South American influences, forró, baião, maracatu, salsa, cumbia and so on, he imposes his style and asserts his originality. In this Latin fusion distilled with simplicity and mischief, Kirá is as much in the tradition of popular Brazilian singers such as Tom Zé or Lénine, as he is the heir to mango-beat. Or is it Chico Science or Zeca Baleiro, whose influence seems obvious?
In less than a year, his first album, “Semente de Peixe”, with his former group Kirá e a Ribanceira, has racked up over 50 million streams and two awards at the Festival de Musica Nacional FM, in 2020 for Dia de Feira - Best Song and Lyrics - and in 2021 for Mar Mangão - Best Lyrics.©Bella Montiel
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Diogo Strausz is the producer behind original tracks and remixes that set dancefloors alight and win hearts around the world. The track “Flight of Sagittarius” gives its name to his latest album, released on the French label Cracki Records. This opus also features a sumptuous disco-orchestral reinterpretation of the Tincoãs classic, “Deixa A Gira Girar.”
In live performances, Strausz sings, plays synthesizers and congas, while layering his samplers for electrifying sets. His DJ sets, meanwhile, are rich in original tracks, transcending genres and creating moments of communion for those who cherish eclecticism and musical diversity.
Dividing his time between São Paulo and Paris, Diogo has made his mark on the music scene with studio collaborations alongside Mario Caldato Jr, Manu Gavassi, Chay Suede and Alice Caymmi.
