The unclassifiable Franco-Californian duo formed by 20syl and Mr. J. Medeiros is back in the spotlight!
After their albums "The Upper Hand" and "Facing Giants", they're back with "Curio Part. I", the first instalment of their new experiments, which they presented on stage at Le Trabendo (Paris) on May 24, 2023, before hitting the road for a tour starting in autumn.
Since the band's inception in 2015, they've continued to push the boundaries of hip-hop and electronic music in unique ways, and this is even more the case with this new opus, which ventures into unexpected territory.
Mr. J. Medeiros is as productive as a solo artist as he is with his group The Procussions, with whom he has released three albums. His first solo project, "Of gods and girls", was released on the legendary Rawkus Records label, and forged his identity on the richness of his lyrics and the technicality of his raps.
As for 20syl, since the early 90s he has been developing a singular universe where acoustic textures and machines coexist. He produced and wrote the 5 albums of the group Hocus Pocus, including the highly acclaimed Place 54. At the same time, he was a member of the C2C DJ collective, with whom he won 5 turntablism world championships, 4 Victoires de la musique awards and a double platinum disc with the album Tetra.
Today, 20syl and Mr. J. are still putting into practice what they had planned since they met: by combining their respective skills, they continue to invent the AllttA sound.
