Sumac Dub

Trained in classical music at the conservatory from an early age, Sumac soon showed the need to break out of the boxes of academic learning. Over the course of his career, he has made a name for himself thanks to his artistic vision and recognizable style within the French electro dub scene.

Following the success of his debut album “Le Jardin de Lucy”, released in 2015 on the ODGPROD label and now counting nearly 20 million listens, he has broadened his musical horizons to transcend stylistic barriers and take his music beyond dub.

Following his last album “Norska”, the album at the frontier of known lands (in Damasio's La Horde du Contrevent), Sumac decided to embark on a bold musical journey, gradually moving away from the beaten track to create something new, something more personal.

After several years of sound research into memory, dissonance and micro-tonality, it was a recording found by the artist on an old family VHS cassette, stored in a dusty shoebox, that gave (nai)meaning to the work.

Built around a conversation between the artist and his father watching shooting stars, the album speaks of remembrance, transmission and our relationship with the past, present and future. As if by evidence, the stars align and this family treasure buried for over twenty years resurfaces to give the work its profoundly human dimension. It places the listener in the intimacy of the family cocoon, the naivety of childhood and the tenderness of a father faced with the infinitely great. It brings us back to our own finitude in the face of time.

Ondubground

Ondubground is a family story. Two musician brothers from Tours, Paul “Art-X” and Simon “Olo”, launched a musical project in 2004 with one objective: to fuse electronic styles and sounds. Largely inspired by the “Frenchdub” of the 2000s, and by the English culture of dub sound-systems and bass music, ODG synthesizes these musical influences and offers a live performance halfway between electronic and instrumental.

Proactive, Ondubground produces and distributes its music, creating its own web-label in the process: Original Dub Gathering (odgprod.com). Today, this platform is a showcase for the best of today's scene, with hundreds of references available for free download. ODGPROD is the epicenter of dub culture.

Youthie

From the Andalusian sun to the shade of an Indonesian forest, Youthie takes you on a musical roadtrip with her brassy universe and the rhythm of skanks: an explosive blend of Reggae Roots and World Music! An instrumental project in which she draws on her eclectic musical background, diverse instruments (trumpet, flute, accordion, bagpipes) and sources of inspiration: reggae/rocksteady, ska, Latin, Balkan, Oriental, jazz and classical music!

The multi-instrumentalist collaborates with numerous dub producers, before producing her debut album “Nomad Skank” in 2019 on her label Youthie Records, followed by the double-album “TheRootsExplorers” in 2022, and finally “GeckoTones” in 2024! She regularly performs in concerts, Dub Sessions and festivals, mixing mixes and instrumental performances on stage, notably at Dubcamp and Ozora.
