H-Burns & The Stranger Quartet

Ten years after the death of the Canadian poet, French singer H-Burns pays a personal and collective tribute to Leonard Cohen, accompanied by a string quartet.

Author, composer, and performer, H-Burns has been touring the music scene for nearly 20 years, guitar in hand. His warm, smooth voice became known through folk-rock music, influenced by the giants of the sixties, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. With Burns on the Wire, he pays tribute to Leonard Cohen with a selection of essential tracks that made his early albums so successful. He is accompanied by his friend, multi-instrumentalist and arranger Antoine Pinet. For the strings and vocals, he will be joined by the virtuoso women of the Stranger Quartet. Their clear, melodious, and penetrating voices blend perfectly with H-Burns's.
It's a delightful mix that, far from distorting the original works, brings just the right amount of body, power, and melancholy to the Canadian poet's compositions.

Barkanan

Barkanan is Ianis and Léo, two brothers who are songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, whose folk music evokes both intimacy and wide open spaces. As if to better envelop Ianis' high-pitched voice, Léo invites the guitar, piano and drums to join in, like reassuring friends, with great subtlety. They borrowed the name Barkanan from one of their distant ancestors and formed a music duo in 2021. Although they initially released a self-produced collection of songs, it was in the autumn of 2024 that their first real EP, entitled ‘La traversée’, was released, mixed by Clément Roussel (November Ultra, Voyou, Pépite, ...) and mastered by Alex Gopher.

A symbol of movement and progress, the idea of crossing transcends the mind. It is a leap into the unknown, into discovery. Crossing time, difficulties, emotions. Your own and those of others. Not remaining static, crossing things to grasp their complexity. Experiencing the journey as a construction. On stage, we hold our breath before daring to applaud at the end of the songs, for fear of breaking the spell. Their two voices, one deep, the other high-pitched, blend together in natural harmony.

This is the striking signature of their very contemporary folk music.
