Audio mixing - Do it yourself

Once you've recorded your tracks in do-it-yourself mode in your home studio, it's time for the often-dreaded step of audio mixing : a world as vast as it is fascinating, where different schools of thought, sometimes contradictory approaches and a multitude of technical tools come together.

To help you make sense of it all, La Belle Électrique and Le Ciel are offering a 3-hour workshop led by two experienced sound engineers. The objective? To give you a solid theoretical and practical grounding in the art of mixing.

The program includes hands-on activities and discussions :

• Understand how the main audio treatments work (equalization, compression, saturation, effects) and know how to apply them.
• Learn how to choose the right tools to shape your sound, with a structured, methodical approach.
• Develop your critical listening skills: identify the processes you appreciate in reference tracks, and compare your mixes with them to make better progress.
• Know when to adopt a precise, objective approach to sound, and when to use mixing as a creative tool to infuse your music with uniqueness.

• Prerequisites: Some technical knowledge of audio recording and/or amateur practice of music production software (Reaper, Pro Tools, Ableton Live...) | Previous experience of audio mixing is welcome, but not strictly necessary to take part in the workshop
