The workshop

To kick off 2026, La Belle Électrique is offering a training day to help participants better understand the role and professions of music publishing, led by Gaël Chatelain, an independent publisher for over 20 years.

Although often overlooked, the profession of music publisher is central to the career of a singer-songwriter. Its main role is to protect, exploit, and promote musical works. They monitor and collect royalties, actively support artists in their creative process (purchasing instruments and technical equipment, advancing royalties, etc.), and develop their exploitation by seeking out professional partners (labels, tour managers, etc.) and distribution opportunities (synchronization, soundtracks, collaborations with performers, advertising placements, etc.).

This workshop will give you the keys to understanding music publishing so that you can collaborate with its players or adopt its methods.

The program covers : The role of the publisher in the music industry; music publishing professions; synchronization; music publishing contracts; how to become a publisher and finance your business; working methods and monitoring copyright; the status of self-publishing authors.
