Wamen

Wamen takes her name from her grandmother: in 2016, she inherited her first name and chose to honor her memory on stage. Of French and Cameroonian descent, she grew up in Cameroon until she was 16 and draws on this dual cultural background to forge a rich musical identity, influenced by Henri Dikongué, Jacques Brel, Lady Ponce, Édith Piaf, Aretha Franklin, and Nina Simone. A lover of words, she studied literature, theater, and artistic production before the need to set her lyrics to music emerged naturally. Wamen tells stories of love—often shattered—that reflect a generation and its wounds, with direct and poetic lyrics. With “Discipline,” which has become a true anthem, she asserts her strength and identity by denouncing a form of sexism that has become all too commonplace today.

Her project RE (August 17, 2025) marks the end of a cycle and paves the way for a profound sense of peace, carried by an artist of great sincerity and supported by a loyal and committed community. On October 2, she released her debut album, “Vie d’Adulte.” This album explores the doubts of an entire generation—the fear of not being good enough, of not measuring up to the previous generation, and of passing on generational trauma to the next.

This quest for success… come to think of it, what does “success” even mean? This is the story of a young adult who is searching for herself, healing, and failing. Piece by piece, we grow alongside her. Everyone can see themselves in her words, because in the end, we’re all a little bit alike.
