J. Bernardt, the project of Jinte Deprez known as the co-leader of Belgian band Balthazar, makes his solo comeback after a 7-year absence with the announcement of his new album Contigo, to be released on May 17 via Play It Again Sam!

Contigo (which means "with you" in Spanish) is a dramatic, compelling and colorful work, steeped in drama and driven by sumptuous melodies, vocals and production. The album explores all the phases of a break-up: shock, sadness, anger, denial, hurt, acceptance... and is viciously romantic in the process.

A classically-trained violinist, Deprez produced all the orchestrations for Contigo. He is something of a generalist: singer, composer, instrumentalist, arranger, producer, engineer, programmer. Whereas the mix of sounds on his debut Running Days was shaped by electronics, the new Contigo album is based on an old-fashioned band formation - namely, a group of Deprez's friends whom he guided through intense rehearsals and performances in search of that spark.

He adds: "I know that a breakup record is a bit of a cliché. But I'm beginning to like clichés! I wasn't afraid to go all the way. To forget the break-up by singing about it is self-sabotage, but it also amuses me."

To coincide with this announcement, he is today unveiling a first extract with the new single 'Taxi'. This track perfectly showcases the elements of his forthcoming album: soaring grooves, humming choruses and cinematic strings, all set against a funk backdrop accompanied by powerful bass and guitars. To die for!

Kids With Buns

Kids with Buns is the alternative pop-rock project of Marie Van Uytvanck and Amber Piddington. Following the success of their singles “Bad Grades” and “1712”, they released their debut album Out of Place in November 2023. This debut album was created in a makeshift studio in their home, where Amber and Marie spent almost all their time during the previous summer. Their signature sound relies primarily on Marie's androgynous vocals and Amber's catchy guitar riffs. Turning their personal struggles and insecurities into catchy refrains quickly led to live success, with sold-out launch concerts in Belgium and the Netherlands. The band is forging a solid reputation on stage, and has already appeared on the line-ups of festivals such as Pukkelpop (BE), Down The Rabbit Hole (NL), Eurosonic (NL) and Reeperbahn (DE), among others. With Out of Place, Kids With Buns show that this is just the beginning. The band explores new horizons and continues touring the rest of Europe.
