Behind the Scenes at an Independent Label: From Production to Promotion of a Music Project with Jarring Effects

What really happens between recording a song and performing it live? For one day, part of the team at Jarring Effects—an independent label based in Lyon since 1995—will offer a behind-the-scenes look at how they operate and share their experience supporting music projects. Through the concrete example of a project produced by the label, participants will discover the different stages of an independent label’s work.

The goal: to gain concrete insights into the music production ecosystem, understand the challenges of each stage, collaborate more effectively with a label or professional partners, and structure your own work methods for self-production.

On the agenda:

the various stages of a record label’s work: building an artistic identity, the live performance aspect of the project, contract negotiations, administrative and financial management, copyright registration, distribution, and communication and promotion strategies.

• Intended for professional artists or those seeking to become professionals, as well as people starting a professional career in the music industry (record labels, management, tour promoters, event producers, etc.) or students in the cultural sector and the music industry.
