Debout sur le zinc

"Before spring, you have to go through winter". From this obvious statement comes a song that invites you to wake up, and in its footsteps Debout sur le Zinc's tenth studio album, L'Importance de l'hiver, is born.

Poetic dances, intimate hymns, vignettes of the times: the six musicians of Debout sur le Zinc, relentless tourers, and after their album devoted to Boris Vian, offer us fourteen generous, frank, and profound songs.

Produced in the company of director Johan Guidou during the trying year of 2020, the album L'Importance de l'hiver displays a radiant confidence in the sun that will come, an insolent way of thwarting melancholy and giving strength to the heart.

La Caravane Passe

The Karavan Hotel was born in the mind of Toma Feterman, more than 20 years ago. This little guy from Ménilmontant, whose family from Central Europe found refuge on the hilltop, dreams of traveling, from the top of his low-cost tower block. But unlike the great explorers who want to travel to every corner of the globe, our sedentary adventurer wants to create an asylum in his three-room apartment to accommodate the entire planet.

For all his luggage, he is 20 years old, not even 20 euros in his pockets, but a guitar, a trumpet, a windbag and great ambitions.
He has to set up his business, he needs a crew. Not mercenaries ready to desert at the first sign of trouble. No, real pirates, loyal to the captain. He recruited the Catalan will-o'-the-wisp, Llugs, a trombonist, a tax expert and a chatterbox, who would be in charge of the solar panels as well as everything else that would allow the group to be self-sufficient in energy. Then, Zinzin Moretto, the small angry moss who blows in his sax like the storm in the sails, Pat Gigon, the bearded jovial who beats on the drum to give rhythm to the effort of the galley slaves, Ben Body the imperturbable bassist who wedges the hull on his low waves and ensures the balance. Together, they build the foundations of the mobile hotel. Toma will concoct his compositions in their makeshift kitchen and thanks to their first hit "Salade Tomate Oignon", they begin to criss-cross the clubs of France, then Europe and soon the four continents... During their numerous travels, they amassed a treasure, a bargaining chip that allowed them to continue their adventure in festivals all over the world. Each memory, each instrument, each refrain, becomes a decorative element of their palace. For 20 years, they travel around the world and accumulate the necessary stones to build their travelers' hotel: The Karavan Hotel can finally open its doors.

Happy birthday caravan: May the 20 flow freely, May your 20 years be 30 roaring, may your exploration of music go 20 thousand leagues under the sea and may the Karavan Hotel exist for another 20 thousand years.
