Cesária Évora sang her song Sodade in 1992, bringing her international recognition at the age of 51. For a long time a simple bar singer in Cape Verde, the legend we know was not always famous, if not poor. A profoundly free, generous and well-connected woman, the "Barefoot Diva" finally succeeded in making her music shine across the world, while remaining faithful to her Cape Verde, consecrating her as Queen of the Morna and Queen of Hearts.
