Piers Faccini
From his very first album, *Leave No Trace* in 2004, Piers Faccini has showcased a delicate and refined songwriting style, drawing on folk, blues, and African music. His latest album, *Our Calling*, a collaboration with Ballake Sissoko, continues this initial trajectory of an original and adventurous musician, always on the lookout for new musical paths to explore. In between, he has released seven albums (including *Shapes of the Fall*, winner of the 2021 Victoires du Jazz award in the World Music category), leading *Télérama* to declare that he “is creating one of the most exciting bodies of work of our time.” His new album, *Faultlines*, set for release in early 2027, explores the fault line—the tiny space between the spoken and the unspoken, where poetry is born.
When machines—soon to surpass humans in many fields—are capable of writing songs in a matter of seconds, drawing on musical heritage transformed into data, what does that imply? Piers Faccini passionately advocates for the craft of songwriting, using his own compositions as a response, drawing from the very essence of humanity and the poetry of its infinite flaws.
