The Big Idea
While The Big Idea hasn’t lost any of its infectious energy, it’s clear that the days of fairy tales and sailing adventures are over. Their latest album, “Half A Dozen,” is imbued with a dark humor that hadn’t been heard before in the band’s discography. Amid increasingly noisy guitars, the brass section now takes its rightful place, further reinforcing The Big Idea’s uniqueness within the French indie scene. The compositions allow for moments of instrumental trance where radical risks nevertheless feel natural, and when the band ventures into songwriting, it’s often to tear it apart with a smile.
Their influences, once predominantly American, now wander across the Channel. The band, however, avoids the pitfall of following trends like “crank wave,” the “windmill scene,” or “Brexit rock,” and remains that big-hearted group of friends who love to spread joy, leaning against the corner of a bar and belting out anthems to friendship at the top of their lungs.
They remind us that if we’re going to talk about all the absurdity in the world, we might as well do it with a joke, a big smile, a glass brimming to the brim, and a great group of friends.

L'Orchidée Cosmique
Performing solo with her Jazz Bass, synths, and array of pedals, Flo—aka the Cosmic Orchid—takes you on an interdimensional journey through fuzz, noise, and ambient sounds. Deliberately noisy textures layer upon one another in a sonic blend that invites you on peaceful, weightless journeys as well as rough, makeshift landings. Be sure to stretch your neck!
This unique flight plan traverses the urgent noise of A Place To Bury Strangers, the magnetism of Torche, and the atmospheric, drone-driven soars of Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
